Mint Categorization Updates Are Here

Time is money and we want to save you both with these new categorization features! These include Venmo & Zelle transactions, advanced recategorization rules, and bulk edit for Android with an increased focus on customization to help you better manage your money!

Here’s how you can better personalize your Mint app, today:

Venmo & Zelle Categorization

Did you know that the Mint categorization model can read the transaction description and categorize Venmo and Zelle transactions for you when possible? (Think: coffee, rent, etc) So when you Venmo your friends and family for those everyday necessities, Mint will catch it, and categorize it correctly!

How to get started: 

  1. Click on any transaction
  2. Select “category”
  3. Select correct category
  4. Select “Apply to all transactions” to create a rule for this merchant going forward and for the existing transactions that match this rule
  5. Update description if needed (add the merchant name)
  6. Select “Apply to all transactions” to create a rule for this merchant going forward and for the existing transactions that match this rule
  7. You can also directly apply a rule where it says “rule applied” in the transaction detail
  8. You can also edit the rules by going to the transaction view more section and clicking on rules

Bulk Edit for Androids

How to get started: 

  1. Open transactions
  2. Select “edit” in the top right corner
  3. Select multiple transactions
  4. Select “recategorize,” “edit details,” or “edit tags”
